The Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme was introduced by the Tamil Nadu State Government. The Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme would provide financial aid to all Tamil Nadu State’s permanent female citizens. Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme

The Kalaignar Magalir Urimai also known as the 1000 Rupees Scheme was introduced by the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister to give women monthly financial support on the anniversary of the late Dravidian icon C N Annadurai’s birth. On 15 September 2023 at Kancheepuram, the hometown of C N Annadurai, the Tamil Nadu (TN) government introduced the 1000 Rupees plan also known as the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thittam (Kalaignar plan for Right of Women).

About 1.06 crore women were selected by the TN government as beneficiaries of the program. Following verification of the qualifying requirements, 1.06 crore women were identified as beneficiaries out of the 1.63 crore applications the TN Government received for the program. Through a Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) for September, the TN Government sent Rs.1,000 to the qualified recipients, who then received the money in their bank accounts.

Objective Of Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme

The main objective of this scheme is to give financial support to Tamil Nadu state’s financially precarious female people. Under the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Scheme, the chosen applicants would receive a financial aid of Rs.1000. The chosen candidate will get a direct bank account transfer of the financial aid.
